About Pegge Hopper

Born in the state of California, Pegge Hopper is an artist who now resides in Honolulu, Hawaii where she works as an art director for a local agency. She studied at what is now known as the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Early in her career, she worked as a muralist for Raymond Loewy Associates in New York before moving to Milan, Italy as an illustrator for LaRinascente.

After relocating to Hawaii in 1963, Hopper was inspired to paint again after viewing old photographs of native Hawaiians at the Hawaii State Archives. Today, she creates paintings— often depicting Polynesian women in large color blocks and Hawaiian settings - that reflect her deep respect and admiration for Hawaii and its people.
