Enquire About Fujisan
Taisho – Showa (1912-1989) ink on silk painting of Mt. Fuji, recently remounted. This painting of Mt. Fuji is in the tradition of great reverence to this icon of Japan. It is done in clean lines, more as an expression of form than as an attempt to create a pictorial or detailed image. It is in essence the icon itself of Fujisan, which at various periods has been a subject of deep reverance and mystical association. In early periods in the city of Edo (now called Tokyo) there were huge imitation mounds built in the form of Fujisan that were as small points of reverence and prayer in the spirit of the Shinto spirituality.
