About Christina Skaggs
Christina Skaggs, raised in New York, developed a deep appreciation for both the vibrant borough of Queens and the rural tip of Long Island. Her artistic journey began early, with success at The Dying Art in Woodstock, NY, where she dyed luxurious fabrics for notable clients, created large porcelain marionettes exhibited at the Santa Monica Museum, and worked as an art director.
In 1990, Skaggs moved to Hawaii, where she found new inspiration and began painting. She also had the opportunity to study privately with the late master painter Gilbert Batty. Known for her textured, abstract paintings, Skaggs’ work draws on ancient iconography, resembling carvings and textiles. Over the years, her art has been featured in prestigious juried exhibitions and collected by many.
