TUSHA Fine Art Gallery is dedicated to the fine arts and antiques of Hawai’i and Polynesia. With a special focus on mid-century paintings and sculptures, the gallery showcases forms of abstract expressionism, including works from the Metcalf Chateau and a prominent group of Asian American artists such as Tadashi Sato, Jerry Okimoto, and Satoru Abe.

オーナーのTusha Buntin トゥーシャバンティンは、ファインアートのビジネスに35年以上携わってきました。ハワイ大学でアジア美術史の学位を取得。また、Tom Klobe といった偉大な教授に師事しアートを学びました。　さらに、家族で経営していたアートギャラリーのディレクターとして32 年務め、たくさんのお客様に素晴らしいアートを紹介し提供してきました。

Tusha は、日本語・日本文化に精通していることもあり、そのことがアートの理解を一層深めています。　皆さんも、私達のギャラリーでアートの魅力を感じてください。

Tushaはハワイとカリフォルニアで育ちました。父が造形家で芸術家であったこともあり、10 歳の頃から家族が経営するハワイ島のアンティークショップを手伝ってきました。

しかしながら、ショップが火事で大参事に遭い、それがきっかけで日本に移り住むことになりました。

I was so inspired by traveling to Taiwan and then Japan at the age of 12. Seeing the Emperors Imperial Collection in Taiwan at the National Palace Museum in the late 1970’s was an eye-opening experience, especially during that time in Taiwan, where so much of the collection was on display.

Tokonoma Arts Gallery は、中国・日本・韓国を中心とするアジア美術を紹介しています。伝統および現代の絵画、希少な黄花梨家具、竹の彫刻作品、日本画の掛軸や屏風など、多彩な作品を取り扱っています。 Tokonomaの作品は、ご自宅や空間に上質な彩りを添え、特に来客時にも印象的な存在となります。私たちは理念と価値観に基づき、常に選りすぐりの作品をご提供し、心に残る出会いをお届けすることを目指しています。

日本に住み始めた頃、日本の武道である剣道を始めました。剣道を通じ、日本語と侍の文化について、今でも勉強し続けています。実際、ハワイ大学ではアジア美術史を専攻していましたが、剣道を続けていたことが美術史と日本文化を理解することに大きく役に立ちました。

アジアの歴史、中国哲学、禅、仏教、侍の思考や態度、それに日本刀や金属細工品についても一通り学んでいます。 Tushaは剣道7段、居合道初段を取得しています。

日本画とハワイ画は、この20数年間、私のキャリアの中心的役割を果たしており、日本画や20世紀中期のハワイの作品を大切に想っています。ディスプレイの配置と演出が、この新しいギャラリーの特徴です。

今日は私の大好きなタダシサトウの絵を紹介します。これは1970年の素晴らしい作品です。もちろん、タダシサトウはハワイで最も重要な抽象表現主義のアーティストの一人です。
