The inside, the circle, represents Heaven.
The spirit (according to the funeral banner of Lady Dai (2nd C. B.C.E.) found in the tomb) passes through the center opening, up into the different levels of Heaven.
This stone, Nephrite Jade, the Stone of Heaven, holds so much belief and meaning in China. It holds healing powers, protection from evil and wish granting abilities.
Originally used by the King to plant the first rice seeds, bringing abundance in harvest.
Objects of all forms were made of this precious material, making it more valuable than gold.
