Korean Catfish Scroll

Gompertz, in his book on Korean pottery, describes the Korean artist’s process as “haute nonchalance”, meaning, that the artist wants to deliver his work as the natural movement of his spirit rather than the affected attempt to gain attention. This catfish is as naïve a painting as the work of a gifted child. The movement and line seem to be without effort.
