The roar of a fierce tiger, the moon high above the mountains!

(signed) The 81 year old fellow Nantembo Toju

One line calligraphy. A ‘tiger’s roar’ symbolizes the dynamic teaching of Zen, teaching that proclaims the unity of Buddha and nature. The ‘moon high above the mountains’ represents the mind of enlightenment that illuminates the entire world. The brushstrokes here are rich and lucid.

Newly remounted. A new custom-fitted Japanese kiri wood box is included for safe handling and storage.

A Letter of Authenticity by John Stevens, professor & director of the Zen Art Society (Tohoku Fukushi University), is provided with this scroll.
