Mario Larrinaga
Mario Larrinaga (1895-1979) was an Mexican-American painter, illustrator, and designer born in Las Flores, Baja California. He is known for painting street genre-viewed landscapes. Larrinaga never formally trained in art but briefly attended Chouinard Art School in Los Angeles, California. During his career, he started at the bottom working for Universal Studios and worked his way up becoming a successful scenic artist and art director. After retiring in 1951, he began painting for his own pleasure and became more involved with the local art community in New Mexico. Having visited Hawaii briefly, his Hawaii based paintings are rare.
