Jung Nam Lee
Jung Nam Lee was born and educated in Seoul S.Korea. She graduated with honors in Fine Arts from Sung Shin Women’s University in 1980 and won several top prizes in nationwide student art competitions. Since graduating, she has studied with well-known sculptor Walter Driesbach in Cincinnati,Ohio for many years. She has exhibited her work in both Korea & United States. She has continued working since moving to Honolulu in 2006. She works in wide variety of artistic forms including sculpture,water colors, photography & printmaking. While her art traverses a wide spectrum between the real & abstract, all of her art reflects a desire to distill complex images into simple ones retaining essence.
“In my art, I hope to appeal to the subconscious mind of the viewer in a very basic & non-verbal way. In this effort, less is always more. I use simple lines as well as subtle colors & combine geometric shapes with organic forms to create images that suggest play & harmony. It is my goal to provoke the magic of imagination in the viewer.”
