Margaret Fleming Waldron (1910-1992), born in Elburn, Illinois, moved to Honolulu in 1936 after leaving her position as the acting head of the Art Department at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. During her time in Honolulu, Waldron had a distinguished career, producing products using materials such as copper and silver for jewelry, textiles, and home furnishings for Grossman Moody Ltd. of Waikiki. She also taught textile design at the Honolulu Academy of Arts and served as the color director for the remodeling of Straub Medical Clinic in Honolulu in 1950. Later, after moving to Waimea on the island of Hawaii, Waldron focused on plein-air painting, capturing the natural beauty of the landscapes and botanical themes that inspired her.
