19th Japanese scroll painting of Gundari, the "Dispenser of Heavenly Nectar". The five Wisdom Kings of Buddhism are esoteric deities in Tibet, China, Korea and Japan. Gundari, or Kundali, is the great image of this painting with his ferocious flaming mandorla. All five kings are wrathful deities. They are usually portrayed as terrifying gods with skulls, blood, multiple arms and other frightening items. They are also called protectors of the Buddhist Law. Gundari is a "Knowledge King" who is the "Dispenser of Heavenly Nectar" and the manifestation of Ratnasambhava.
