The figure with the child is roughly identified as Tian Ji Song Zi. She is a heavenly being who fell in love with an earthling, was recalled to heaven, and had a child. After the child was born in heaven she took the child back to her partner on earth.<\/p>\n
The painting is by the artist Li Mo Qing. This is very much in the tradition of the late Qing Dynasty paintings where the portraits of young beautiful women were in fashion.<\/p>\n
